5 Applications. 1 Rejection. Still Moving Forward.
This week, I applied to more than 5 internships and full-time roles. Like every application, I refreshed my inbox a little more often than I should have, hoping to see a positive reply. Out of all those applications, I received just one response—and it was a rejection, letting me know they wouldn't be moving forward with my application.
It would be easy to look at that and think nothing is working. But I also know hiring doesn't happen overnight. Reviews take time, interviews take time, and opportunities take time. Right now, my job is simple: keep showing up, keep applying, and keep becoming someone who stands out instead of blending in with thousands of other applicants.
One thing I'm proud of is that I'm documenting this journey honestly. These blogs aren't being written after I "make it." They're being written while I'm living through the uncertainty. Every application, every rejection, every lesson, every small realization—it all becomes part of the story. At the moment, there haven't been many highs to celebrate. Mostly just ordinary struggles, self-doubt, and learning to stay consistent when results aren't visible.
Sometimes I wonder how fresh graduates are expected to gain experience when so many companies want candidates who already have it. It's a loop that almost everyone entering the industry has to face. You need experience to get a job, but you need a job to gain experience. It feels unfair, but complaining about it won't change it. The only thing I can control is building projects, learning new skills, improving my profile, and making it impossible to ignore my work.
Despite everything, I'm grateful. Grateful that I have the chance to learn, to apply, to improve, and to keep moving forward. Every rejection teaches me something, even if the lesson isn't immediately obvious. Every application is another step closer to the opportunity that's meant for me.
I don't know which application will change everything. Maybe it's the next one, maybe it's the fiftieth one. But I do know this: I'll keep documenting the journey exactly as it happens. No fake success stories. No pretending everything is perfect. Just an honest record of what it's like to chase a career, one application at a time.
And maybe, one day, when I finally look back, these difficult weeks will be the chapters that made the ending worth reading.
